Woods Res tourney results Sept 9th 2017

MTCC held a tourney Sat Sept 9th to get fish for our fish fry later in the month. We enjoyed good weather for this event. We did something a little different. We held a main championship where you had to catch fish in 3 separate segments of the day and we weighed in 3 times during that day. At the first and 2nd weigh in the field was reduced by 50 percent leaving only 3 teams left for the end of the day weigh in which was paying a 1st & 2nd place. For all the teams who were not fortunate enough to be in the main tournament the club offered an end of the day bonus for the best 3 fish weighed in during that time. We started fishing this day at 6 Am and first weigh in began at 830 right on the dock. Then those still in came back in at 11 Am then the last 3 still in competed for the championship at the final weigh in. Fish were easy caught during first segment for many teams and a little tougher during the second segment and for the last 2 hours only a select few found fish. You probably are wondering why weigh in 3 times during the day. It was to force all teams to try and catch their fish during the 3 separate segments as an added challenge. You could not keep more than 3 in your well from any of the segments which made it much more of a challenge according to some of the teams who fished it. I can tell you this, its not the type tourney I would want to fish often simply because its a lot tougher on you. Results are below.

Winning the main championship was Robert Baker & Larry Britton with 6.81 pounds with 3, 3 fish limits. Taking 2nd place was Toby Ivey who did not catch any during segment 3 but had 4.93 pounds with 6 fish from previous 2 segments. I also was lucky enough to have big fish at 1.18 pounds.

Taking the pot for the end of the day was Tracy & Pam Farmer with 2 fish weighing 1.81 pounds.

Congrats to all the teams who came out and fished this day. We had 10 boats fish this tourney and we got 33 more fish for our fish fry.
