I was reading in a magazine the other day where a man is rigging up jugs to catch crappie is that legal to use them.
And also was reading on the net about using feeder goldfish for bait is that legal also in Tenn.
Just thought I would bring them question up and see if anyone knows for sure.
It's legal to catch crappie on jugs. Some people say it's not very "sporting" but to each his/her own. I've never caught any crappie while jug fishing, but best believe that if I did, I wouldn't be throwing it back as long as it was legal size. I use 1/0 bleeding circle hooks, and as you saw when we went jug fishing, you'll rarely gut hook a cat w/ one.
Well I might just have to try that sometime you know me I am lazy as all get outs..I like to cheat some.I was reading where Duckworth was doing.I didnt end up going today I worked on my trolling motor rope cause it was ready to break again.But I bet it wont break now I got a steel cable on it now.And remembered I had a meeting at work at 3pm.
I also read that not sure how good it would work but i have some small jugs that would work for it. Went to the harpeth trout fishing today with notta should have gone crappie fishing.
Don't know for sure CT... BUT , seems to me i read somewhere that using goldfish in TN. for bait is illegal.
I've caught a few crappie while jug fishing, but I never keep them. I don't think it's feasible to catch a mess of crappie consistently using jugs.
As for the goldfish, I looked through the Tennessee Code Annotated last year and could not finf anything that said goldfish were illegal to use for bait.
I heard a few years ago that it was the main bait and the bait stores even sold it there. Well that was at Reelfoot. I dont know just heard that through the grapevine.Only time I ever fished Reelfoot I used reg minnow.
I also read that too,I have no problem with jug fishing,but where I fish the lake is so pack with other crappie fishman,there no way I would put out a bunch of jugs to get in everybody way,
