Heading to Nelson Lake near Hayward 1st week of June. Never fished for crappie that far north. I would appreciate any info. Also, does anyone know if Nelson Lake has a bait shop on the lake? Thanks for the info.

I fish the Chippewa Flowage about the same time you are going. I know the lakes are a little different this time of year it gets to be a weed bite find bays containing weeds and the edges of the weeds. On the Chip these fish move a lot if not finding fish keep checking different weedy bays and look for loose schools moving from one weedy bay to another. They may be in one bay in the morning and another by evening. On the Chip the better bays seem to be that 8 - 12 feet deep. Good luck and have fun we fish absolutely nothing but plastics have had many 400 + fish days, hands get utterly tore up from unhooking fish. We set up a timer to see how long it would take to catch 100 Crappies it took 2 of use using 1 rod each 47 minutes.
