we sank a couple of wood crates saturday. they were about 4x4 made from 2x6 boards about 3-4' long screwed to the frame vertical spaced about a foot apart. kinda like this

how long do you think it will take crappie to find them? we sank them in about 11 ft. water near some deeper water near main river channel which is 30-40 ft.
Try them next time you go out! If it is the only cover available in that area they will get on it pretty quick. I have sank Bamboo and caught 6 slabs over a pound each within less than 24 hours of putting it out! One Bamboo bucket produced a 1lb 14 oz slab as the first fish caught there within 24 hours!
I have sank pallets before myself. How many uprights did you have and how much weight did it take to sink it?
Could hold fish today, In a month or so if they are going to work at all.

best i remember we put 3 upright boards on 2 sides and 2 boards on the other ends. it took about 60-80lbs to sink em. we carried 2 of the big retaining wall blocks to sink em and 1 would not sink the first one, had to use both of them. then we had to go find some rocks on the bank to sink #2.
the wood was dry 2x6 pine. screwed some thinner slats of hardwood on it too.
I figured it took a lot. The pallets that I have sank took twice what I thought they would!
Like Slabbandit said they can move right on your structure if the placing and time is right. But I've seen some that took months , some that never produce , and some start off hot and fizzle out.:confused:
UUUGh, we fished our beds this saturday. nada, not a single bite. couldn't even see any fish on the beds with the depth finder.
