I am thinking about the Garmin gps and saw the GPS 76 and GPSMap 76.
Now what I would like to know is there that much of a difference in the two?
If any one has one of these units How do you like it and is it easy to use?

i have a 76 csx. easy to use, have eastern hot spots loaded, 12V cigarette adapter to plug into the truck or boat. Map installed on laptop, can transfer to and from the unit. Only thing it doesnt do is microwave popcorn for me.
You wont be sorry with any Garmin you buy. Tons of accessories, user freindly. a little more than other brands but to me it has been worth it.

I have the Garmin, GPS MAP 76. I am very pleased with it and recommend
it highly. It is user friendly also.
The main difference in the two is the amount of memory. The GPS76 has 1mb, whereas the GPSMap76 has 8mb. With the larger amount of memory, you can store up to 1000 waypoints as opposed to only 500. Also, if you choose to install an enhanced map the MAP76 can accept it, but the plain 76 will only handle generic maps (which aren't at all useful). The cost difference is nominal, so I use and recommend the GPSMAP76.
i have the GPS76 and woulda got the one with MAPS but it wasn't avaiable back when i got mine...still easy to use and very accurate.
Great information Darryl I was wondering about the difference myself.
I have a GPS76 but wish I had the GPSMAP76. Too bad IBNFSHN didn't have that one. I think thats who I bought that from. But I think all the mapping gets in the way sometimes anyway.
I use a GPS Map 76 and it does a good job for me. The best price I've seen on it is at www.jandhproducts.com and they are real good to deal with. They also have good prices on Garmin brand power cables and mounts.Quote:
