Anyone fished Balsam Lake in the last few years? Used to fish it around Memorial Day for bass and walleye. Caught a lot of bullhead and nice bluegill also. Caught tons of 8 to 9 inch crappie right off the resort's dock. Kept a few. The growing season up there is short, but lakes near Ely seem to have the large bronze black crappie. Are there any other lakes in this area that have resorts around them that you would suggest either for crappie or walleye?
