Marker Buoy Modification
A couple of times, I've noticed a few fishermen on TV using an "H" style marker buoy with what looks like a small wooden dowel rod of 3-4 inches on the outside of the "H" on diagonal corners (total 2 dowels).
The only reason I can think they do this is because it may turn over a little slower and is less likely to twist and hang, taking the buoy down.
Has anyone tried this and if so, how does it work for you?

I would think the dowels were handles they use to rewind the line. H ones should be more stable in the wind, but my round ones have weight in them to lessen the effect of wind.

They are handles for winding. It speeds up the process tremendously and your hands don't get as wet.

Thanks for clearing that up. May have to try to make a couple of my own and see how they do.
