Multiple trolling motors
Hey all. I have an extra trolling motor just sitting around and was thinking about mounting it to the transom next to my outboard. I have a foot controlled bow mount up front already, but was thinking it never hurts to have a back up, and if my outboard ever broke down on me it would help get me back home. Just wondering what is y'alls thoughts on this. Has anyone ever done this? Are there any other positives or negetives I should look out for? Thanks for the help.

You may think about "side trolling". You mount the trolling motor on either side of the boat and use it to troll sideways. This allows you to have more rods out the side of the boat as you troll.
If you mount a second trolling motor remember that you may need more battery power to operate both motors. Good luck and tell us what you decide.

Another good use is when two are fishing in the boat and one is occupied with a fish, the other can keep the boat from drifting into the trees.
I have 50# on the transom and 36# mounted on the bow on a tiller steer Jon.

Cane Pole has a remote control TM on the rear of his Pondtoon ...
It's his... "Emergency reverse get me outa the brushpile TM"...

Yeah I didnt even think of that. Also I do have an extra group 24 battery also so I think that will be sufficient for its purpose.

I have done that same thing on a 14 footer.
It worked real nice. With both running I could really scoot across the water.
