Lake Trout Wednesday
Fishing from 7:30 am until 2 pm on a deep, hill land reservoir. Targeted lakers in the their deep summer haunts. We vertically jig these fish using blade baits, large hair and plastic dressed jigs. We are targeting 70' - 107'. You have to use your FF to scout the drops at those depths with fish on them. Then drop down as quickly as you can. If they see something that appears to be alive down there, they'll nail it!
Talk about a "hoot" - trying to lift a 3 - 5 pound laker up from 100' with light spinning rigs and 6# test line! They really fight well on light tackle like this. Here's our results from yesterday:

My partner wasn't as successful, landing only one:

On the way into the launch, we had an average male black bear (or small female) cross the road in front of us. Didn't get the camera in gear until it entered the woods, but this is what it looked like:

All in all, a very successful day on the water. Air temps started off at 57 degrees, but rapidly raised up into the mid-80's by 10 am. Light breezes made it for a very warm day on the water:

Hope you all had a chance to wet a line this week! :)
