Thinking of getting one from Academy with my gift cards...I am looking at either the Hero3+ Silver or Hero3+ Black...pros/cons mainly going to use for fishing, but also hunting at times.

The silver will work fine for what you want. The issue is you'll need to acquire the various mounts for where you'll be filming. A floaty back door would probably be a good idea, just in case the camera went overboard it would float. The cameras come with a clear waterproof housing so that's not an issue. You'll need to pick up a class 10 SD memory card. The lower class cards don't write quick enough for video equipment. I'd recommend at least a 16GB card.
I got one for Christmas, hadn't even tried to figure it out yet, been too busy hunting.Going to start messing with it next week.
The basic features of them aren't hard to figure out. The hardest thing is aiming them to what you want filmed.
This guy has lots of Hero camera videos...

Thanks for the info...going to go with the Silver.
What about battery life?
By time you get all the cool accessories its as much as the camera. lol
Battery life is 2-4 hours of recording time, depending on which settings are selected and if you're using any accessories such as the LCD backpack or remote.
Get the app for your phone. Makes a world of difference. You can use it as a viewfinder to see what's going on and all the camera controls are there. You will toss yhe wifi remote. Also a skeleton case and a microphone. Sound sucks using stock case. Also can hook up and run it off charger if close to a 110. Extra batteries and Extra cards off amazon. Mike too. All the mounts and extras will soon add up.
Skeleton case isn't waterproof right? Gomer is right, get your memory cards off of Amazon, a lot less expensive.
