Juvenille Crappie after the Spawn

I remember reading something a Marine Biologist said about not having much information about where the Juvenile Crappie go after they hatch from the spawn. I was wondering if this is still true? The past couple of years after the spawn when I sometimes target catfish, In my throw net I have found Juvenile Crappie, Bass, Bluegill, and some other long nose fish, ( probably Gar) mixed in with the baby Shad. The first time I thought this was just a coincidence, but I have found this too often. So my question is do all these different species eat and grow together until they are big enough to eat each other?
