What is the difference between the Power drive V2 and the Terrova? I'm looking into a variable speed motor and don't know enough about electronics to see a real difference.

I've fished both and the stow/deploy mechanism on the Terrova sold it for me. I have a bad lower back and my old PD V1 killed me pulling it in. Keep the shaft lubed on the Terrova with Armor All and it glides up. You can use the foot pedal and iPilot both on the Terrova at the same time whereas you have to look for an aftermarket adpart box to use both controls on the PD2. I never use the foot pedal since purchasing iPilot so that wouldn't swing me either way for the fishing I do.
What Dutch said plus the Terrova has a much larger heavy duty motor.
Go Terrova and don't look back. The Powerdrive V2 will get the job done, but the Terrova is an improved Powerdrive V2 in many ways. A Powerdrive V2 on steroids if you will. The autopilot on the Terrova when purchasing the copilot is on the FOB unlike the Powerdrive V2. The few hundred dollars you pay extra for it will be worth every penny. The deployment alone would justify the cost. It also responds quicker to me. Copilot is about 200.00. This is a must have accessory, it makes your crappie fishing experience so much easier and enjoyable.
Another vote for the Terrova. I own a pdV2 and the deploy isn't close to a Terrova. I fish with a rod in each hand so the pedal is a big deal to me, I'd have to put a rod in a holder to use the TM. Terrova worth the bucks.
Buddy the electric steer SUCKS!!!
I had one for one day and sold it.
They are noisy, You can not control how fast they turn, Turning and motoring at the same time is nearly impossible!
Cables are awesome!
The only exception is if you wanted a co pilot.
Co-pilot sucks compared to I-pilot but its way better than a pedal. Terrova I-pilot and forget the rest!!
Terrova I-pilot and forget the rest!! X2
Countrytime,
In reading your post about deployment of the terrova,I havea few questions as a terrova owner also. I find it difficult in getting the terrova up and backin the mount position without the rope as in the past. My terrova is on the front of a pontoon, I have to lean way over to pull up the head and pull it back on the boat after I step on the release. Im still young but no spring chicken lol Apparently you have an easier way if you could share.
