Woohoo!!!
Got the new boat ( cheap 14' V-hull jon boat, used ) out on the lake to try for some crappies!!! I started with a dark green/light green jig about 2-2.5' on a bobber. caught 5 that way around some trees, all under 8". then IT POURED rain on us like no other! Cats and dogs all the way to the dock. finally let up to where we could get back out on the water. we anchored by those trees and vertical casted and tore the crappie up. biggest one of the day was about 10" or so but we caught about 200 total. hopefully go out again soon. AND i learned about what time they move in: dark. So i'll be hittin the lake in the evening with a few friends when dad cant go and crappie fish in the dark. i'll probly fly-fish cause those slabs are comin to the top for food. it was a fun day. we fished from about 6-9:30.

think i'll get my fly rod ready for tonight. They were hitting my jig right below the surface as dad got the boat strapped down. flies will be fun.

Went back out tonight for about 20-30 mins. and fished that orange/chart. jig and caught 7, biggest 11-12". Smallest was about 8, most in the 8-9" range. I've got a plan now: bass fish during the day, crappie fish the last half hour of light. then if i can get some friends to go with me, into the night.
