Trolling cranks???
Ok so i want to try my luck at trolling cranks for
crappie and walleye as i stumbled across a couple
Okuma line counter reals with the left hand retrieve
on clearance for 20 each and couldnt pass them up.
i know i will get a bunch of different opinions but
what rod and length would u guys recommend? Keep
in mind the walleye also. I am rod poor the way it is lol
so looking for a dual purpose and remember i
aint never trolled before!

I found some Eagle Claw rods at Dunhams Sports all different legnths for 14.99 a piece I put my line counter reels on them the rods are yellow so they stand out works well. Make sure your rods are longer as you go out I go 6,7,12,16 on each side. I use the Eagle Claw rods then Berkley lighning rods I got on sale at WalMart and the Wally Marshall rods or now Crappie Maxx from BPS. As long as they ae different lengths it shouldn't matter what you get so good luck rods are expensive no matter what you get buying 4-8 of them can add up quick.

Try the 7ft ugly stick one piece rods. Not pricey and very durable.

I use the Pinacle's from Grizzly Jigs, they have em in 8, 10, and 12's for 4 for 60, good backbone and action.
Also there is a thread that will answer most any question you could have, not but 1200 or so post in it.

I troll for both of these fish as well. Be carefull and don't get to heavy of a rod like did. They work great for walleyes, but it can be hard to see the crappie bites. You'll want something that has a pretty light tip but also has enough backbone to pull some big deep diving cranks. The ugly sticks work fine for me. I would head to the nearest outdoor store and check out as many rods as I could before making a purchase.

I use every length from 7 footers to 16 footers. The 16s aren't my favorites but they keep good line separation. I troll with most of the same rods I spider rig and long line with. If you will set up rod holders directly off the back of the boat, you can pretty much use any casting rods you have laying around. Use the longer rods off the side and stagger the lengths with the longest being the farthest forward.
Get ready to get hooked on the cranks. They are totally awesome at times.

X2 on the pinnacles, have two 9' and love them, use for crappie, blue gill, eyes should be no problem, landed a 40lb flat head on one of mine, couldn't believe the rod didn't break.
