We had a great turnout and a really good time!
The weather cooperated, nice day for fishing, and nice turnout....especially for February tourney.
+ 12 lbs was the winning stringer and that was a good looking mess of fish.
It was nice meeting everyone and we had a great time. Looking forward to the next tourney in March at Pickwick.
Believe the open/fruit jar format with money payout is a good idea.
In addition to the tourney, we passed out our 2011 Awards....congrats to Jerry Miller & Blake Bryant for 2011 Team of the Year....y'all done good!!
If anyone has any pics, please post a few.
good day and turn out,had alot of fun.thanks also to kenlake slab(tom)for loaning me a wrench, start battery was dead when it was time to go to weigh in,had to switch cables from start to trolling battery.rotfl
what style and from what area where fish being found. we fished yesterday, but didn't want to commit to a tourny, and found some fish on ledges in 10 foot of water. didn't have 12 pounds though.
2012 started with a bang! Them local fellers put a hurtin on us. :)
I did manage to get a picture of last years champs Jerry Miller and Blake Bryant. Mr. Jerry and Blake couldn't fish yesterday so everybody else had a chance. A couple of genuine fine fellows. Congrats gentlemen.

Glad yall had a good turn out and congrats to all of the winners from last year and the tournment yesterday!!
Fish were caught all over. Some teams fished the "Backwater". Some went to the Beech River, and a few made a run up the TN. Mostly spider rigging, but we had a few single pole fishermen. Shallow drops close to deeper water produced well for a lot of folks that I talked to.
what worked for yall,i had 4 poles with double jig rigs and 4 poles with double minnow rigs all with 1/2 oz.weights, caught more on the monnow rigs, saw the crappiestalkers cathing alot beside me using jigs only, was gonna try some long lining but chickened out since i have never tried it but a few times
I fished from 12 to 4 on beech yesterday and caught 26 keepers. I caught them in 2 to 4 ft tight to cover. Casting a jig and bobber.
I fished the tournament, first one ever. Certainly different that ‘just fishin’ and had a great time. Fine bunch of guys and well organized also! I WILL try to do this again! Only gripe is that ramp that goes into the river SUCKS big time, but the club has no power over it.
I single pole fished the Beech River only, on laydowns beginning on the deeper ones first. There was some current out early but quit around 10:00. Bite was REAL good until current stopped on the deeper 6’-10’ cover. Then I found fish at the mouths of the backwater near adjacent cover in 2-4 FOW. Around noon I tried some of the shallower 1-2 FOW stake beds and found a few decent fish. Dinks were plentiful enough that I bent the barb down to make getting them off easier/quicker.
Water was 46-48d and stained brown/verging on muddy, visibility to 8” or so. I started with 1/16oz plain lead head and lime/chart micro skirt. Changed to firecracker, orange/chart, pink/chart then settled in on pearl. Ended up cleaning 18.
