Yeap I kinda figured it would come to that. Over development always leads to the need to make changes. They should have restricted development more as well as the size of boats on the lake for that matter. Actually I believe the company has to abide by Federal regulations regardless of what the community wants or desires. It has happend before across the country with people forgetting why the lake is there in the first place. Owning a home right on the water is a privilege not a right and same goes for the docks on the lake as well. The Feds could come back and say no docks allowed at all if they wanted to.
But during an election year and with the amount of money that the lake brings in due to tourism and vacation home purchases I dont see it changing dramatically, but it could.
We're talking ALOT of money here so this should be interesting, moving the homes is one thing but I would think the docks would stay the same. As long as there are docks there will be dock shooting. thanks for the info Speck, it will be something to watch for sure. Some powerful people own homes on the lake so it should be interesting.
Years ago on Wappapello, several folks had cabins and boat docks. COE came in and determined a "flood zone" so many feet from the waters normal pool. They condemned everyones property next to the water and took control of it. They removed several homes and cabins and ALL of the boat docks. Some of my friends were some who owned one of the cabins.
Too many people with more money than what Ameren has to let this happen. Might be tighter regs. in the future but we're talking multi-million dollar homes and alots of people with strings attach to the HIGHER power so to say!!!
You may be right. The land owners here kept it tied up in Federal Court for a few years but they ultimately lost. They may have more money than Ameren but they dont have more money than the U.S. Gubment.
I fish LOZ at times(winter) but the waves are to big for me the rest of the year so I just stay off of it.People has spent their earnings on building a place there so I say leave them alone, not all of those homes are million dollar homes, sounds like someone wants it cleared off for a better view for a new condo or the likes.
There has been talk of this for years and to this point it has always just that but we'll wait and see.....i'm sure what the government in all their infinate wisdom decides will be the best decision after all aint they always right and looking out for the people:rolleyes:whatever happens there will be plenty of places to catch open water fish even if all the docks are gone.
as someone who lives on the water on a piece of property that has been in my family since the 60's they have no right to tell people what to do with there property that has been there for years. This will not pass on this lake. There has been alot of rumbling going on in the lake area since this debate has gotten hot as of latley. Theres alot of people who have homes free and clear and have been in their families for years and the have been paying property taxes, and if this happened it would be ashame.
they said it couldnt happen on table rock but it did, albeit on a smaller scale,,,, onec the goverment gets it on there breath they are relentless in there pursuit of stupidity
