You can use one or 2 jigs per pole. Weight depends on how deep the fish are, 1/32 gets you down about 4-5', 1/16 about 10-11' depending on line weight, speed, and amount of line out. Amount of line behind the boat is usuall a long cast with a 1/16 and peel off some extra with a 1/32. Speed is between .8-1.2 mph.
It's all trial and error.
It will depend on how deep the crappie are more than how deep the water is. I have caught crappie in water that was 20'-21' on one 1/32 oz. Roadrunner. I have done that a lot in water around the 15' range and especially in water 12'-14'. Hardly ever need to use a bigger one in water under that, at least it is that way for me.
Usually I can cast is about as far as I can and that is enough line out, but deeper like your talking about I would probably drop back some more line after that cast. Don't know how much until I see how deep they are staying.
I don't think I even added more jigs or weight to my RR's, but have pulled some double jigs at times, but more than not I just pull one.

I prefer to use only one roadrunner at a time. If i need to get deeper i will add a split shot. I do use two regular jigheads often with great success. I like to make a long cast out about 30ft or more in 15-20ft.
I know silverfox is trying to say thanks for the replies, but for some reason he's having trouble making the post. Also Silverfox when you get this ok, PM me and we can talk a lot more about long lining! Been at this way of crappie fishing since 1978.
