unhookum hook remover
Finally broke down and bought an unhookum for hook removal. Haven't had much chance to try it out yet. Should get quite a work out soon esp. on those deep hooked gills. Tried it on a few crappie and it worked fine, just have to remember to look through the bifocal lense on my new fish eyes sunglasses. Didn't like the price of either, but so far I love the glasses. Hope I feel the same about the unhookum tool in a few weeks.

Seems awfully pricey for a single use tool. I've been using the same pair of $2.00 hemostats (which you can get off eBay for $.99) for 20 years, and they can be used for a lot of other things besides just removing hooks.

Don't know what kind of hook remover it is, but I also use some stats, but my neighbor told me about one he saw that impressed him so he's going to get both of us one. I am willing to try it for sure. I been getting a lot of fish eating the jig and almost to their throats. I think he said they are orange and black??? not sure.
I have tried a lot of them over the years and most were a disappointment.

I have had my unhookum for about three years now. It is fantastic for those deep hooked fish, and the toothy ones as well.

I use a plastic disgorger for gills -- works great and only costs about a dollar.

Took a 12" wooden dowel and cut a a V in one end and tapered on the sides on same end. We did this when fishing cranks and we did not have anything else to use. We have been using on jigs and everything since. Works great. I will take picture and post.

I watched the video of the unhookum and ordered one. I know I'm a sucker, but I have spent more money on fishing this past year whats another $17 maybe it will save a few fishes life and also me retying a hook a few times.

I don't have so much trouble unhooking crappie, but when those smaller bluegills swallow the hook to where you can't even see the hook down there throat is what gets me.
