Is there any of the telescopic rods that have some backbone to get a crappie out of cover? I have had little experience with them but I am thinking of getting a few!

Welcome aboard. I use the Uncle Buck's deluxe crappie poles from BPS and they hold up great. They come in 10' to 16'
I have (4) of them. Very reasonably priced. I coupled them w/ mini Buck reels and they have served me well. Come in various lengths. Here's the link:
BNM Fishing
Call Lance @ Grizzly Jig he has the B&M Tuff-Lites on sale 10' telescopic very good rods with plenty of backbone for $9.95!!
try psfishing.com. I've recieved good products from them such as mono and hooks. Their telescopic rods may have more backbone in them compared to a BnM fiberglass telescopic rod. They claim their rods have guides that are suitable for braided line. A plus for the Racoon.
