used 1& 5/8 pvc and a cap & 1/4 screw. drill a 1/4 hole in cap & flatten on belt sander. screw it to boat & push in 6 inch piece of pvc. less than a dollar

Nice idea, can you leave them in if your running to a spot?
i have run at 35 across choppy waters & they stay in. they would have to jump 6 inches & i do not think that is probable:)
