Greetings again,
I have been scanning through the board and just wondered if we might locate a group from the SE Michigan area? In looking over the messages I see about 6 or 7 located in this area. Anyone interested?
Grace be with you,
Mike

Yes mmaveal you are a mind reader I just got on line to ask if there were any crappie contests in southern michigan in 2009, but a group is better by far.MY name is scott (escobro85)I live in mishawaka and Iam a fishing addict.
Greetings Scott.
I'm going to have to look up Mishawaka to see where it is. I'm in Maybee, MI (Monroe address) 13 miles south of Belleville Lake. We mostly fish inland lakes. My wife is uncomfortable with Lake Erie. The only problem with Belleville is the jet skis. This spring I want to try out Hudson Lake - all no wake. I'm going to make a list of everyone that replies. This might be fun - call it a fishing rally.
Grace be with you,
Mike
Hi mike I should have said mishawaka ,indiana about 5 miles from michigan line, right next to southbend indiana
Hi Scott,
It has suprised me that you are the only one to reply. I have been talking it up to have a group meet at Hudson Lake, (Hudson, MI about 50-60 miles west of me) in the Spring. I've read that is a good panfish lake also has muskie. We were going to camp it, but friends told me that they have LOTS of ticks in the primitive campground. They had to de-tick their camper when they got home. I have a friend at church that wants to go also. It would be a great place for some of us crappie newbies to learn fron the old pros. Hudson is a NO WAKE lake. NO JET SKIS ALLOWED. Nice!!!!!
Gettin old & slow,
Mike
Mike I looked at hudson lake sounds good. Scott A
sounds fun ,i live around Grand Rapids
keep us posted
Did a search at the DNR site and shows Lake Hudson Rec Area is a semi modern (has electricity) campground. If Ready2fish is going then I gotta go too. Make sure you keep us informed on perspectvie dates. Just inherited a boat load of muskie equipment (poles, lures, etc) from a buddy that passed away. Will have to try to pry myself away from crappie long enough to educate myself on spring tactics for the freshwater sharks. ;)
I will put down Five bucks for biggest crappie.
wow, 5 bucks for each biggest crappie, I'm going to be rich. lol
or more correctly slabs before they're in the net. Sounds like a challenge now. I'm in.
LOL now cry later when I buy a big ol slim jim and a diet mountain dew with your 5 bucks.
Hey there Mike,
Count me in.
I can borrow my sons boat and see what we can do.
Randall
good to have you aboard. Looks like we have some takers for something this next season. Would be great to get a bunch of us together for a weekend fishin' outing. Glad to see ya want in.
and swamped my attitude. Gettin' real sick of it now.
All I want to do is fish is that so wrong?
Hi Scott,
I'm In Livonia. I have been thinking the same thing as well. I do alot of fishing after ice out. I am planning on trying some new lakes.
Hi allin were is livonia at Iam next to south bend IN.
Hello all.....new to the site. I live in Manchester. I am originally from Ohio and grew up crappie fishing on the canal feeder lakes.
I'd love to meet up with some people this spring!
hey all good luck on trying to catch fish out hudson lake i used to fish it and all i ever got out of it was dinks and had muskys chasing them. hudson is a breeding lake for muskys and pike
What lake would you suggest?
like i said i used to fish it,if i was you i would find a local bait and tackle store around the area, theres adrian, hudson, cadmus and clayton all within 15 miles of lake hudson
That is what I experienced a few years back but only made the drive twice.
It's possible the lake has cycled and is better for crappies now. As far as a crappie rally I wouldn't over look Center lake- fishing can be tuff if you can't make ther run up to Ocelot, also consider Kent lake- another no wake lake that has a good population of slabs but no camping that I know of and may also require permit.Devils lake has a awsome crappie population but can be a horrible lake for traffic but not as bad as belliville wich I fish all the time and can be very frustrating. Also hearing some wispers about whitmore latley but it to has a reputation for toothy critters that can cause huge swings in the crappie there.
A get together sounds fun depending on location and time of year. If its in dead summer you could have everyone in the same sweetspot:D
and distance is less of an issue than I originally thought, Gun lake south of Grand Rapids is a very good lake. Lots of contours/flats/etc. Just depends on how far people want to travel. Again, it not a "no wake" lake but the times I went it wasn't real bad. There is a campground there too if people want to make it a weekend type thing.
never really fished Gun Lake only for the reason its a good size lake and haven't taking the time to learn that lake. I always here from people that there is some good crappie fishing in that lake and as Y.D said there is a state camp ground there, it has my vote
that fish it a lot. They pulled out there lake map and let me copy some additions that they made, so I have some good detail on rock piles, etc. I know where the fish like to hang in several places now.
we all will have to follow YD to all the good spots or talk him into copying them good spots for us already getting the crappie poles out and clean and lubing them all up i'll be ready for some ice out fishing
i live here in ypsilanti
hey doodler, haven't ya heard? all the crappie in gun died off over the winter :D :D :D
well i guess YD will have to restock it with some southern specks then when he gets back
hey mad man, that would be a great idea, hope YD brings some of those hogs back and tosses em in gun, there are good crappie in gun but nuthin like the HOGS you can get down south,I sure wish I was down there (south) now
yeah i know what you mean by HOGS i lived in Alabama back in the early 80s caught qiute a few 2 1/2 to 3 lbers while i was there ok YD you have been elected to bring back some HOGS with you
 run some wires from the truck battey and hook em up to the livewell airpump :p simple LOL
hey, count me in ,gun sounds good.
so is this East meets West fishing extravaganza going to happen this year
