The 2024 Michigan CDC spring camp will be held May 3-5 at Sharp Park Campground, 8551 Deep Lake Road, Middleville, Mi. They are willing to reserve a block of sites for us and they would like the sites reserved and paid for by mid January. I plan on camping Thursday through Sunday and Jeff and John are doing the same. The sites are full hook up and are 47.00 a night.
Anyone that plans on attending please make a post here so I can contact Sharp Park and let them know how many sites we need. I will then post the site #'s and each camper will need to contact Sharp Park to put their name on a site and make payment. This will need to be done no later than the third week in January. Their web site is campsharppark.com and will have all the info you need.
We moved the date to early May to try and hit the spawn. There are quite a few very good crappie lakes within 30 minutes drive, both for numbers and size. I'll post some pictures of some of the crappie we caught from these lakes last spring. Attachment 478022Attachment 478023Attachment 478024Attachment 478025I'm hoping that some of the out of stater's can join us for the weekend. Friday evening will be Liars Club and a main course will be provided. Bring a dish to pass and your own drinks. We decided to forgo the Saturday crappie tournament but will still have the fish fry Saturday evening. Bring a dish to pass for this as well. Paper products and plastic ware will be provided. I will bring my fish cooker, fish coating and potatoes for home made fries.
Hope to see lots of you there.
Do you know if tents are allowed on the sites?

Yes they are or there is an electric only area for tents and pop ups or a rustic camping area.
I will be there Friday before noon. Staying in a tent. As of now my fishing partner will be along. Will call campground in the morning.

Hold off on contacting them for now until I get the sites reserved. I talked with them yesterday and we agreed that as long as it's done by January 26 we will be fine. As of nowwe have you and steelguy(John) on sites and me and Jeff in the 2 person dry cabin.
Are there cabins with a shower etc? Maybe a wet cabin?
According to their sight they only have the one cabin, with plans for another dry cabin that will sleep 6. I found a couple motels within 10 to 15 miles of the campground. If I get to go I will stay in one of those and hang out with the group as much as I can.
Spartannation, put me down for one site with electric using a tent please.

I have the 6 man reserved for Thur, Fri, Sat nights. They say 4 comfortable so if anybody wants to bunk with me and Jeff we have 2 spots open. The 2 man is also available. I drove down to have a look today and the 2 man is small and only has a double bed so unless you like to spoon, a cot or air mattress would be recommended. The bathroom/showers is directly across from our sites as is an overflow parking area. All sites are full hook up except for some tent camping sites with electric only.
Check out the Michigan Master Angler site and you can see the quality of fish taken from the surrounding lakes over the past several years. You might even see some names you know.
John, I parked at the store and walked. If you give Diana a call on the # listed on the website she should give you the OK to check it out.
Or her cell # 616-204-0911. The sites are 66-75
Reminder that i need a count on the number of site we need. I have until Jan. 26 to give them a count so if you plan on attending I need to know. Thanks
Excellent. Gonna be some hogs caught this year for sure.
One tent site, electric hookup preferred.
Two guys total. Will make reservation as soon as you give the go ahead.

Final reminder-reservations for spring camp need to be made by Friday or you risk not getting a site. Call Diana at 616-204-0911 to reserve.
Just a month away from spring camp and the spawn is getting closer. The females I cleaned yesterday had loose egg sacks. I think we'll hit it perfect this year.
Just letting everyone know that I will Wanda and I have room for a couple of people in our boat if needed

I would be glad to have a seat, don't know if Dar is fishing or not.
Darlene and I made a trip to the camp grounds today, and there is no boat ramp to speek of at the camp ground. I hope you guys know that. Looks like a nice little lake but reallly no place to launch a boat.
I believe the plan is to use the campground as a base and fish any number of the other lakes that are nearby.
