made right there in Kentucky the best in my opinion and they will give a discount for being a crappie.com member !!!Blue Water LED !!!
Blue Water LED - Bringing light to night time recreation
"The Best" is a very subjective term. What is the best for you may not be ideal for me.
That being said, I have found that white light directed at the water seems to draw the fish in the best, but my buddy argues that green light is "more natural". The algae in the water makes the white light green a foot or two down, so why use green light??? ...But that is a different argument.
Also, I like amber light inside the boat when running, to protect night vision. I absolutely hate blue light, and I can't see much with red. Amber has been the best, by far. And of course you want some white lights on a switch for when you need to see to tie knots or do something important.
I recommend you zip tie the lights into place and move them around at night, until you are 100% happy with the layout, and then mount them permanently.
I have had good success with lights from Amazon, but I've also had some disappointing stuff, so it's kind of a crap shoot. If you go with name brand, you know what you are getting. Those bluewater lights look good, and you can order the exact style and color you want.
LED lights are awesome if done right. I wish you success!

can you do white lights under the pontoon to draw in baitfish and blue or whatever on outside for the cool factor? plus then amber lighting on deck so you can see? have never done any type of LED lighting, how much power does it draw off your batteries? thanks as always, CDC guys are the best and most knowledgeable.
Oh you definitely want to use different colors for different areas. Put them on different switches if you can, as you will want them on at different times.
You have to read the LED packaging. Some use 2 watts, 5 watts, 18 watts. My fav super bright white ones use 8 watts each, and I have four of them placed to really light the boat up. I also have some HD lights on poles to light up the water, and they use 18 watts each. If you are using a dedicated class 27 or 29 deep cycle battery, you shouldn't have any problem, but if you run them all night, you want to charge in the morning.

I went with 4 of the 6.5 inch white led 8 watt lights from Amazon, put 2 on the front and one on each side both on different switchs. Tried them out last week and they are great, I believe we had most of the bait fish in the area around our boat, I just use headlamps in the boat to tie hooks, bait and whatever else needs doing. Thanks for all the replys
Any pics?
Those 8 watt strips make a lot of light.. More than a single 32W light, I think. Can't beat the price, either.
Congrats. I agree with skunked- pics would be nice.
Here are What they look like, I put some green film on them just to soften the bright white a little. They are extremely bright and 4 of them will run like 8 hrs on one good marine battery. God BlessAttachment 321983Attachment 321984

Thank you!
I've got a set of those lights, and they ARE bright. I have them mounted in a couple of key locations, and they really do a good job when you really want to light things up.
Besides the bigger lights, I also bought a set of little stick-on "flat" lights, and they put out an impressive amount of light for their size and wattage. There are several brands that look exactly the same. Some are 300 lumens, some are 500, some are 600. With the 500 lumen model, you get 6 of them for less than $9 shipped, and they use 8 watts each:

So you get 3,000 lumens of light for $9, and because it is broken up into 6 lights, they are pretty handy to have around, both inside the boat, and for lighting up the water. I have some inside storage areas (facing away from you eyes!) and I have some facing the water, and the result is a really big, even spread of light, and they are almost invisible. I have them on a dash switch, and I just hit the switch, and using less than 50W, I don't have to worry about the battery being drained.
They have lasted a year or two so far. One went bad, started losing diodes, and I swapped it out. One trick I saw was to use a dab of silicone (or E6000 preferrably) at the end where the wire connects, to make sure salt water doesn't get in.
In the end, I use these flat lights way more than I use the big lights, so I figured it would be worth sharing.
Question: Where did you get the green film?
That looks pretty useful.
I ordered it off amazon or eBay I can't remember for sure, just Google green film for lights and it will show up.
Thill - thank you for the link, I think, something else to spend money on!
I bet those would work good on a truck or trailer bed ...... hhmmm
