OVERVIEW
See fish in real-time, in no time. MEGA Live Imaging provides the most impressive live sonar on the water, allowing you to watch fish and structure in real-time, powered by the unmatched detail of MEGA Imaging. This U.S. Patent Pending technology provides views out, down, and around your boat with absolute clarity, and even allows you to watch fish bite your lure. This accessory transducer mounts to a trolling motor shaft and provides three different live sonar views; Down, Forward and Landscape modes with the included mounting bracket.
Features
* See fish and structure in real-time, with no gaps in sonar coverage, powered by the unmatched detail and clarity of MEGA Imaging throughout the entire sonar view.
*View everything down, out and around your boat with live sonar. Choose from multiple viewing modes; Forward, Down and Landscape, provided by the included trolling motor shaft mount.
*Keep fish and your lure within sight thanks to MEGA Imaging detail and an optimized sonar cone angle, providing ample sonar coverage without sacrificing the precision ability to target individual fish.
*Mark and view waypoints on the MEGA Live Imaging sonar screen to remember productive fishing spots for next time, when paired with an optional GPS receiver with heading sensor (AS GPS HS).
*Connect MEGA Live Imaging to compatible Humminbird models via the included Ethernet cable. There is no external sonar box required for installation, allowing for the connection of optional sonar source like MEGA 360 Imaging or Built-in MEGA Imaging to the same control head.
*Compatible Humminbird control heads: HELIX 8-15 G3N & G4N models with MEGA Imaging, All SOLIX models, and All APEX models.
*For optimal sonar performance, it is recommended that MEGA Live Imaging be used with any Minn Kota️ Ultrex️ trolling motor or a Minn Kota️ Fortrex️ trolling motor equipped with Built-in MEGA Imaging️.

Trolling motor and MEGA 360 Imaging accessories not included.

Looks good for Humminbird guys! If I understand correctly, there is no black box. If so, that is a nice feature. However, I still believe Garmin was ahead of their time with the Livescope. Their images are as good or better than the videos Ive seen of the competition. All technologies look very similar. Either way, depending on the MFDs you have, pick your poison if interested in live imaging! Lots to learn down there.
I was expecting HB to be better than It’s competitors…Need to see more action videos to sell me. My mega 360 for my fishing style is hard to beat. Just my 2 cents.
I just received the official email on this also. The title says live imaging is here but scroll to the bottom and it says September 2021. I'm still waiting to find out what the built in wifi is all about on the generation 4 helix units also.

I'm most interested in Humminbird claims of no gaps in sonar coverage, if that's true I'm in.
Standing by. I was thinking of going to a single head unit up front but i think i am going to need both Mega 360 and MegaLive in view at the same time.

That is definitely not the Oculus based videos we were getting early this year. I was wondering how they were going to pull that off so cheap and get it to work with that heavy driven software that Oculus uses. They sure didnt pick any pretty structure for the real debut video, but unless they are sand bagging, this looks a step under Garmin right now.
Agree with you Hammerhead.
No doubt they have good if not the best Mega DI/SI but I think they missed the boat on this one.
It will benefit the guys running compatible Bird head units but from what Ive seen, Garmin Livescope beat them hands down.
Im still hearing from (in the know) hummingbird folks that the release date will be the last quarter of the year.
I run 3 Birds on my boat and still glad I pulled the trigger on a Garmin instead of waiting.

I thought the Mega Live would blow Garmin out of the water. I get better images than those in the video on my livescope.

I have 3x 10" Helix units, an Ultrex link, and Mega 360 on my boat, as well as a Garmin running livescope.
I was planning to sell my Garmin stuff and go full Humminbird when this came out. I can't belive they are using the term "Mega" to describe this pixelated mess. What a disappointment.
It looks to me that humminbird is gonna use mega live and 360 together. That is why you see no structure in the video. Been waiting for humminbird but now for sure gonna go with garmin.

Looks pretty much to me to be the same thing as LS. I have never had or seen in person live scope. So, I wouldn't know when to jump ship on what I'm looking at. Both seem like a video game to me from what I seen. It seems that Garmin cost big bucks and HB is going to cost some what less. I would hope HB would not take a dive and leave us a wad of crap. I have waited to long already. I hope to see HB in person before I buy one. Got my fingers crossed! :twocents
Mega Live is priced exactly the same as Livescope with the black box. It will only cost you less if you already own a compatible plotter, which is limited to units produced in the last year or two. If you had to buy the whole package, it's a crapshoot on which would be more expensive, because there are a ton of different options for the plotter.
What appears to be the biggest limitation and cause of blur is the wider angle of the cone. This might actually work better than livescope if you are trying to chase down a large fish, but I highly doubt a 1/8th oz. crappie jig will even show up.
I honestly hope I'm wrong on this and they get it sorted out before the September release. I'd much rather have everything on my boat be linked up, vs. having two separate brands.
I have the Helix 12 mega plus and am waiting to see if it Mega live is not a dud. I was thinking in my head it is cheaper because there is no black box involved which if it is needed it will cost another 4-5 hundred more. I am hoping you can chase a school of perch or crappie tight lining. No there will not be two brands for me either. Still a lot of unknowns to me which makes me a little jitter about it. :popcorn I'm hoping for the best to come to life for us HB users. :highfive
Can someone with skill post a pic from each one for comparison?

Ok so how come all these posters are talking about how terrible it is? Compared to live scope?

One little video with not allot to see and people are bashing HB. Good! I hope they all cancel their preorders! I remember when Livescope was first introduced and only showed tarpon and people swimming. I thought what a joke. Boy was I wrong. Hopefully a few units will get into the hands of a few crappie fishermen and we'll get a chance to see if Mega Live is any good or not.

Tried to post another video but link didn't work. There's a video on Facebook of crappie on a tree.
Seen it, nice looking video with more depth and range!

Humminbird posted another video on Facebook that shows crappie on structure. It looks significantly better than the first video they posted, but not even close to a decently setup livescope.
Here is a screenshot of it:

Folks that are skeptical it’s as good as livescope aren’t “haters”, “internet experts”, or bashing the brand because they are Garmin fanboys. Most guys I know are really hoping for Humminbird to hit a homerun on this.
Here’s the Facebook video noted above ... watch the jig at the top of this Downview ...

I think this video looks really good. Very comparable to Garmin Livescope which I've had and used allot over the last 2-1/2+ years.. Winner for me as long as there are no dead zones like most of us are seeing currently with Livescope.
Hope it works out for all the Bird owners.

if it could get just close to the garmin on clarity but eliminate the distortion from the "ghost Tree" it would make me spend the money, the ghost tree is my number one complaint with garmin, and i really thought over time they would eliminate it, i know they have this update but from the folks i have talked to its still there ya just gotta live with it, to me its crazy to have a 3-4k unit and right where you fish at in that 15-20' range you have the worst distortion, i think they can do better, id also like to see a better harder bottom line, if you have ever chased one around and then see him go to the bottom and dissapear you know what i mean
I hope Humminbird gets it together before they release anything.
Garmin has had 2-3 transducer upgrades since theyve been out.
Hoping they can correct their problems with software updates instead of another transducer change.
Dont matter to me I guess. Im pretty satisfied with the LVS32. I think thats what its called.

Well,,,I’m sucked in. Just ordered Mega Live off Brian of BBG Marine. Now need to decide how I will mount it as I already have mega 360 on a SS da Ducer up front. And might just add a 3rd fish finder up front also. Decisions, decisions,,looks like I have time to decide! :ThumbsUp
Did Brian give you a delivery date?
Hope you keep us posted and it works out for you. Kinda curious what frequency it operates on also.
I take it you only ordered the transducer?

Nobody will give you a delivery date..nobody knows…just sometime in sept. If that. I have a mega 10 and 12 DI up front and networked…so all I need is mega live transducer. It comes with mount, power wire,,and 20’ network cable.
I think I read somewhere the operating frequency is 1000-1100 MHz if I have it all typed right. Maybe Rickie can clarify this alittle better…will keep looking for that answer.
