Hueston Woods yesterday
It was a tough bite for us yesterday; how about you, Hoytman? We saw a lot of bass boats leaving as we pulled in around 9:30 which we took as a bad sign. The day's total was six crappie, one bluegill and one channel cat. We kept the four largest crappie for tonight's supper and they weren't huge - 9 - 10 inches. Still, they tasted good with some onion rings and a salad fresh from the garden.
All but two of the crappie were caught on a pink/chart/white tube jig tipped with a minnow. The other two were on tightlined bass minnows. We're still flying blind until we can replace the Humminbird, but went to all the usual places that produce for us. Saw lots of surface feeding, but no one seemed interested in what we were offering.
Wanted to add that three of the fish I cleaned were males, including the largest one, so the big girls must still be hanging in deeper water. The lake is up from the recent rain and muddier than usual. - Roberta

Same for us. Fished for 3 hours and caught a total of 6 crappie. One of them was 12". Must have been the cold front that went through thursday evening, I guess. I'm going to try and go up one night this week, for sure this weekend. Good luck Roberta

Sorry to here you didn't do any better, but on the other hand, it's good to know it wasn't just us.
We'll probably go there again on Saturday and avoid it during the rest of the holiday weekend. If Doug can get out of the office early enough one evening, we'll try to head to Celina to fish for cats and crappie off the jetty. Good luck when you get out. - Roberta
