High Vis Line?
Does anyone feel that the bright yellow or green lines are less effective than clear or camo line? I know they are handy when "tightlining" or casting. I used them for the first time last year. Didn't exactly slay 'em, but that is probably my lack of skill. If they are good, what would be the best line to buy. I am getting ready to spool up for Big Sandy. I don't troll any.

I used only Camo or Cajun Red over the last few years. Last Fall I strung up a few of my rods with the HI Vis. I fished both at the same time and could tell that I caught more fish on the HI Vis, but I think this is because I could see the lighter bites. Now all my rod are Hi Vis.

Cool, that makes me feel better. Got a big ole spool of high vis yeller 6lb. test just waiting to go on the reels.

I've been slow trollin with 20# stren hi vis. love it, you can really see the lite bites. 20# would be to heavy im sure in clearer water, but it doesnt seen to hurt me on Reelfoot

Why on earth would you use 20lb test? 6lb & 8lb is plenty strong. Massive overkill the hook will bend out long before you need that heavy stuff. Try going down to 8# and you will be surpised how many bite you have been missing. I bet you need 2oz weight to get it to pull off the reel. What do you do if hang a weight or rap a line?

I use Mr. Crappie 10 lb test. It has a very reasonable price and is a quality line. I can't imagine going back to a clear or low viz line that I have trouble seeing. So many times the fish will just put it in their mouth and kinda swim off to the side and I can pick up on that with the hi viz line.

I'm still pretty green with the slow troll game. I manage to get my self in some pretty good messes. If 8# will pull a hook straight I'll prob drop back. I used to spend more time tying on rigs than fishing. I use 1/2 oz rigs no prob with handling. Do you think the larger diamiter is costing me fish? I was wondering how it ws going to go if I switched to jigs, thanks for the input Cracker

BTW the mr. crappie stuff tends to bleach out I was using it but it kept fading on me
