Cicadas are starting to get thick around here in the Lake Country. Anyone use them for bait? I tie some flies for use with my fly rod but pondering on it.

There’s shells everywhere around my place on Clark’s hill. The woods are singing. Nope, more like screaming. I believe the cicadas I’m seeing are a little big for most crappie so I don’t think they are feeding on them very much. Just my$.02

Chris, i saw a guy named rocky drake on you tube using cicadas for bait. His face is familiar if you watch richard gene the fishing machine. He has made a couple of guest appearences.

the crappie eat big baits . i have cleaned some that have 2 inch shad in them . know some that use shiners for crappie baits.
