Just buy some protec paint and dip them yourself. It is really a simple process.
I am with him. A heat gun or heat source of your choosing and a bottle of powder. Really easy to do
ok i will try that thanks alot!
1/8 oz are easier in my opinion to coat. 7 seconds in front of heat gun each side dip in paint. if it don't get shiny, put it back in front of heat gun for a few seconds till it is. I keep heat gun on low temp if it has a high and low setting. Less chance of lead leaving hook and making a splattered mess.
The to most important things to remember is to heat the jighead for around 10 seconds and don't just dump it in the powder. You swirl it around in the powder for 1/2 second and then pull it out. This will allow you to have a thin coat instead of a hunk of paint on the jig head. It's crucial you keep that jig head moving when dipping it in the paint.
I use a alcohol burner that I got at an archery shop, nice and quiet, but as Eric says not too long or a splattered mess.
A Bic lighter works great as well. Quieter too.
I started out using a simple candle. I tried a few other methods and found a heat gun was the best method for me.
I also use the alcohol burner. Easy to use and does a good job for heating jig heads for dipping. Buy a small pack of cheap jig heads and practice. I also use a metal rack to place jig heads on to dry. Some bake them on with an oven.
