trolling motor rudder attachment - worth the money?

When the wind gets up to +15mph and I'm not turned into or away from the wind's direction, I'm constantly changing tm direction to compensate for wind and waves. Haven't tried this yet but wondering if anyone has:

The rudder can be attached 4 different ways: as seen above or flat side up, forward or back facing.
Product support worthless. The tm is used 90% of the time vs the gas motor. I like to fix its direction when going in a straight line back to the launch (especially after the gas tank goes dry because I didn't check it before leaving home. nononohttps://www.crappie.com/crappie/imag...ABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

I remember those. I believe they marketed them as a replacement for when the skeg was broken off the trolling motor

Not sure how much it would help on a Jon boat . Probably some. It looks easy enough to remove if it doesn’t work. It will make it harder to turn the troll motor quickly.
The home made rudder I put on my kayak was a tremendous help but it’s not steerable. It’s just to make it track straight.

Again, it's use is to supposedly track straight - not make fast turns which the prop does when handle turned. Easy enough to return to Amazon for a refund.

I ran my kayak without the extra rudder once. Have ran it twice with the rudder. Great improvement in steering and holding a straight course. I see no problem with steering, if going in a straight line and want to go 90 degrees either direction I better correct it fast or I'll be going in a circle.
I didn't think about adding a rudder to my 18 ft boat with TM on front. Any wind over 8 mph would push me off course. 12 mph wind would produce white caps and I would head for shore.

It did good today in a constant 15 mph wind. Held course with occassional finger-adjustment on the tm handle.
