Heating Jig Heads
Ok brand new as you all know to painting jigs. Got all my equipment and did a few test heads with a heat gun. No problems. Here is my question? I have a smaller desk I work at and the heat gun takes up needed space. I was wondering if anyone used an alcohol lamp and how well it works?
Thank You,
Art

I have one and have used it since I started powder painting jigs. I recently tried a heat gun and I will admit I found the heat gun easier and more forgiving. The lamp will work fine and you might like it. I like and used the lamp because it was quiet and since I’m usually doing it after I put my girls to bed I don’t want to do ANYTHING to wake them……lol

I put mine in the drawer, pointed upwards and close it to lock the gun in the upright position. The gun is a good method and wirth finding a way to use.

I only use a alcohol lamp works well for me. It takes a little getting use to it. Hear gun made to much noise for me.

I've been painting jigs for over 30 years and in that time I've painted over 500,000 jigs using a Bic lighter. Doesn't use up much space, and I make some nice jigs with them counting to a certain number depending on head size before dipping.

I used a candle for years. Got a heat gun and wondered why did it take me so long to switch. My guns resides on the floor near my feet. I simply put on my desk top when I need it.

I use a propane torch. Quick and easy, does take some getting the feel for it. SAFETY!

Mine sits on a lamp stand next to m6 couch where I powder paint jigs and watch tv….it’s a nice heat gun with a sturdy stand built into it though,,,,
