I'm trying out braid. I'm not sure if I like it or not yet. Eurotackle Ultimate Smoothness 4lb. It's a bright green. Caught a bunch last time (first time with it), but that was with a beetlespin so the line is farther from the hook than with a jig. I got one bite, but other than that nothing touched the braid-to-jig setup. I'll update this after my trip tomorrow, where I should learn some more about what it's like.

I do. I have one rod outfitted with Suffix 4-lb Nanobraid in Lo-Vis Green. Tensile seems significantly higher than 4-lb although I have not measured it myself. I did pull in a 10-lb carp and a 5-lb catfish no problem on that line though. Casts and ties better than the other braid I use. I also have a rod outfitted with Phenix Ironfeather Fiber Elite 5-lb in pink. It is so thin that it catches every gust of wind. The breaking strength appears to be accurate and actually lower than the Suffix stuff. It loses the color fairly quickly, but is still easier to see than the lo-vis green in most lighting. I also have 4-lb Phenix Ironfeather Fiber Elite in Floro-Green. It is crazy thin and I took one look compared to the Suffix 4-lb and decided my eyes were not quite good enough to tie knots.
I personally prefer braid for all applications and rarely tie leaders.
I have used it and will probably use it again. There is another line that is much better than braid when fishing for panfish..at least in my opinion. It is Varivas ES2 Lemoni polyester line in 2.3# test. Like braid it has zero stretch…but unlike braid, which floats, the polyester line sinks. It is just as sensitive and maybe more so….if you are on slack line using braid and a fish hits you may not feel it…..if a fish hits polyester on slack line you will feel it for sure. Not many US anglers familiar with polyester line but it is a fantastic panfish line.

No reason to switch from Stren original , as it has always done well for me . Successful fishing is more about "finding " , not what you use . My Dads generation caught fish on Zebco 33's and 6 -10 lb. test .
My best ultralight line is Berkley 8# Hi-Vis Nanofil. A 6 foot long 6 pound flourocarbon leader is always added using an Alberto Knot.
IMO, the Nanofil can get a bunch of line twist and still cast without problems. It cast further than anything I know of. Close inspection of my Nanofil with show that the line has many twist. From time to time the leader is removed and the line is drug behind the boat while moving slowly to remove twist.
Btw - all of my fishing is cast and retrieve or casting a float and jig.
I can't edit my post. Braid definitely improved after the first trip. Casting distance is great, very few issues with line slap.

Braid is all I've used on everything the last 15 years,counter reels,ice fishing reels,spinning reels the only mono I use on occasion short 18" to the hook. After using braid fishing so long, mono is like fishing with a weak rubber band.
