It’s taken 24 years but my old black ugly stick crappie poles are getting brittle. Is there a rod out that comparable to them. I’ve caught catfish near 50lb and bent them to look like a horseshoe over the years and never had one fail but I’ve broke 3 tips off the last 3 trips. They’ve been abused and left In the sun so I can’t complain I got my 10.00 each out of them lol
You wont be replacing them for $10 apiece anymore. Ha!:) I like the southern crappie rods from Ed Dukes but if you step on the tips they will break.
I would second the Southern Crappie Rods. BUT like Butchbsays they aren't $10 buck.
If you have time drive up and pick them up Ed is great to talk to and is a fisherman
For the money, BnM’s are hard to beat. I’ve have/had lots of different makes of crappie rods and in my experience they seem a little more durable than most out there now. As Butch said, Southern Crappie rods are really good choices too.
I’m curious, since you seem to like your old ugly sticks, why aren’t you getting more of them?

Just bought two new ugly stiks GX2 rods, the prices are and comparable with the Southern Crappie rods for the casting/dock shooting length rods. I really like my Southern Crappie rods as well but I learn toward the ugly stik fishing in the kayak because of the tips.
The ones I have are 9’-12’ trolling rods. They were discontinued That’s why I got them so cheap 90%off lol. I’ll look and see if they started making them again. They’re almost indestructible…almost lol.Quote:
