I have loaded a truckload in the past not so much anymore. It can be a relaxing pastime. Sure lets a fella load it the way he wants it. I have been fortunate enough to take a few deer with the ones I have loaded. Sure is a good feeling when you can harvest an animal quickly and cleanly. I got into it to be able to afford to shoot handgun competitions. Hard to beat that RCBS equipment as well.
I use to reload when I belonged to a gun club. Was fortunate to win the hunter division one year. Got a great recipe for an accurate and deadly hunting round
I'm still shooting those loads I put together from years ago. Still accurate. Still filling the freezer.
I bought the RCBS equipment in the mid eights,at that time to reload for my .243....$7-8.00 bucks for a box 20 was a crazy high price;) I could reload for the half price.
Reloaded a lot of 80 grain FMJ back then for red fox calling/hunting (little hole in....most of time little hole out) red fox were $50-60 in the round back then, we tried not to blow-em up;)
Coyotes moved in in the early 90s and the red fox all but disappeared.
Components have been hard to find in the last few years. Which so has ammo. Last primers I have seen were so outrageously priced I couldn't believe it
I see some primers in the past few months online, and seeing more, and more powder, and yes like a lot of other things the prices are higher.
And then there's that dang hazmat charge for primers an powder online...if a guys buying ether might as well place a large order because the hazmat charge is the same for 1 pound of powder or 10lbs or a sleeve of primers or a brick.
I like to buy local on priners and powder when I can. Just to save those fees
We only KABOOM, just saying :Rofl
Sure lets you Kaboom more when you can load your own.
No idea how many thousands of rounds I've punched out...LOTS & LOTS. Used to pool $$ with buddies, then load many calibers several nights during the week, then burn 'em up at the range over the weekend. Worked up killer deer loads all the way down to some super light .38 specials we used to shoot inside the barn when it was raining. Accuracy is your friend.
