Going to switch out trolling motor on a 20 ft by 72” war eagle.... think I. Can use a 45 “ shat model to reduce long shaft folding back into front of boar (60” shaft). Anybody got experience or knowledge with this situation I woul appreciate you sharing your thoughts
The long length helps me when I am pulling crankbaits and me and my fishing buddy are both at the back of the boat bring in fish...front of boat a lot higher out of the water then....and it helps to be able to put motor in deeper on windy days also.
Running 45 inch on a 361 ranger. Mounted to a minn kota slide plate as with the hang over it would hit the winch roller on steep ramps. also can remove and lay on deck to get my travel cover to fit properly. Been running this for several years
You can always pull them up a little, can't make them longer.
I have a 45" Terrova on a 17' Tracker Deep V. It's too short, 90% of the time it is fine, but running in big waves, or when I am standing in the back of the boat it will come out of the water.

I have a 45 inch shaft ulterra and wish I had gone longer, I've got a Tracker Tundra and it came with a 45 inch shaft TM. I think you lose some shaft length with the self deploy/stow mechanism. If buying again I would go with a 60 inch shaft. As others have mentioned if I'm in the back of the boat the 45 inch shaft let's the prop come out of the water
