For an '87 Mariner, 115hp. What oil do you recommend for premixing ? Does brand matter? Whatever I find? TCW rating more important?

I've always gone by TCW rating, myself. Premix or oil injection, I've always used "off brands" (*not the motor company's brand) and never had "oil related" problems with any of the 4 motors I've owned. If they're TCW-3 rated, that is. I'm using Pennzoil right now in my 1999 Merc 90HP.
TCW rating is most important. I have used Walmart oil in some smaller outboards for years with no oil related problems. Only thing I have found with cheaper oils is they tend to smoke more. On that motor I’d suggest just stay with any good quality brand oil that meets the TCW-3 spec.
Thank you both! Will do.
TCW3 oil all the way.
After years of using Quicksilver, I now use Pennzoil TCW3 full time. Can be found at the local Wally World around $18 per gallon, or Amazon between $15 - $17 per gallon. My Mercury 115 plugs always look good with it too, but I always blow the soot out of it at least for one good stretch every time I get it out. That's my two stroke procedure, it's a family thing we do.

Thank you!
