July 5th (late post)
I don’t get to fish much with 2 little ones and lots of overtime but I was able to go last Friday. My dad decided he didn’t want to go because of the heat so I decided to try my luck at the river wading. I grabbed the 6’1 corto and the reel of choice was a 2003 series daiwa exist strung up with 2lb sos. Jigs ranged anywhere from 1/32 oz to 1/16 oz. Enough about the equipment but I got to fish for 3 hrs in the heat. Did have a few pop up showers that seemed to help a little with the heat. I caught lots of redbreast, redeye, and smallies. Largest redbreast probably 8” and largest redeye probably close to 10”. Usually catch some nicer redbreast than that but it was a fun day. Ended up catching 90 fish on the nose with the largest being a 15” smallie that went between my legs twice. I felt underpowered with him and felt as if I were going to lose him a few times. I have caught smallies up to 21” there and thinking the 6’10” corto may be better suited for fishing there. All in all it was a good trip with very few pics with all the pop up showers. Below are a few fish pics and the plastics I used.

Far left is a triggerx nymph and middle is a lindy watsit grub

The redeye could very well be breeding... I didn’t catch as many as I usually do
