Healthy Help Needed
Teenage son said he doesn’t like fried fish anymore because it is not healthy but still loves fish. Looking for some baked or grilled crappie recipes if you guys can help. I personally love fried fish but have a small understanding what he is getting at so I am trying to accommodate his request. Thanks in advance!

I take fillet, season with what ever seasoning you like, sprits with olive oil. Bake in oven at 400 for 20 minutes. Have learned to like it as much as fried. Put no stick tin foil on baking sheet because even with the oil they will have a tendency to stick.
At times I also use shake and bake. Olive oil first then shake in a bag with it.

Thank you! Appreciate it, will try.

You could try this recipe, maybe make it like a Taco bar and add what ever toppings you choose, healthy of course. The grilled protein is the star, and fun to catch. Crappie.com - Fish Tacos from the Grill.

cut the fillets in strips and give them an egg bath and roll them in seasoned up panko and breadcrumbs and bake them for 20 minutes at 350 or until golden brown .
on a lightly oiled cookie sheet ….really good fish sticks for sure :highfive

Smoked crappie is really good. If you don't have a smoker, you can get by using a charcoal grill. You can pile the charcoal to one side and throw in a couple chunks of hickory, cherry or apple after the charcoal turns white. Put the crappie on the opposite side of the charcoal and cook long enough till it's cooked through. Use your favorite seasonings.

This is one of the most popular threads on baked crappie. I've tried it and liked it along with many, many other members as you will see from the thread:

Use whatever coating you usually use. Lay them on baking sheet sprayed with Coconut oil and spray the tops of fillets with Coconut oil spray. Bake at 450 until fillets flake
This way is very close to being deep fried in the taste dept IMO.
Coconut oil is high in healthy saturated fats that have different effects than most other fats in your diet.
These fats can boost fat burning and provide your body and brain with quick energy.
They also raise the good HDL cholesterol in your blood, which is linked to reduced heart disease risk.
