Lemon Today

So about lunch time it looked like the monsoons were finally moving out and A quick check of the radar confirmed that thought.
Since I haven't been able to get on any lake for a bit, I decided to give it a try. Wife and I loaded up and headed out. Seems I wasn't the only one that was tired of all this rain as there was quite a line at the ramp and we had to wait a good bit to launch.
We finally made it on the water and poles in around 2 pm. WT was 67, and the lake was stained, but not as muddy as I expected.
The only pattern I was able to figure out was there wasn't a pattern, at least not for me. I used Pico's, Bandit's, a bomber, and some hand painted 733's, and caught fish on several colors. The only one that stood out was a chrome/blue bandit, but it certainly wasn't by much. Dark red was probably second. Good fish were very scattered. Caught little ones everywhere but good ones were few and far between. We fished both ends and the middle at several depths, but couldn't figure out anything solid. Left around 7 and ended up with only 11 decent fish between 11-13 inches.
Still better than sitting inside watching it rain!

Nice report, glad you caught fish especially after all the funky weather we been having. I haven’t been out yet in last 3 weeks due to operation and going to try it maybe Friday if I feel like it. It’s sure been a unusual spring.

Hoping to get out this weekend myself but raingear will be in order.

Lemon this year has been quite unusual fishing this season. Maybe due to screwie weather patterns? Maybe fishing pressure is finally having an effect on the larger size fish populations as I am not catching any 15”:Crappie and very few 14” also. I am not catching the fish in my deeper haunts either, They have moved and you really have to search them out. Yesterday, I was seeing old crappie beds with 360 and yet no fish in them in 7-8’ of water and surface temp was 72. Also this year, med green color I call them sea lamprey on their stomachs, 6 to 8 inches long. Should have taken a pick of them and will next time, but I killed them. These eel like suckers looked identical like ones I have seen in Lake Michigan when I used to chase salmon. There may be a problem as I have never ever encountered them in the lake before.

You are correct, it has been very unusual. Assuming the messed up weather but don't know.
Wife and I was there again yesterday and ended up with 19 but they were all nice, probably had 35-40 throwbacks. No 15" for me this year either and only a few 14. Several in the 12-13 inch class though. Ours were very scattered like they were Wednesday.
There does seem to be a lot more people this year. assuming it is because Monroe and Cataract are still a mess.
