Tried spider rigging on old hickory today
Hey guys I moved near old hickory 4 months ago. I tried pulling cranks 4 different trips. First trip I caught two nice 14’ crappie, Bass, channel cats, white bass, small strips. The other three trips I caught everything above but no crappie. Today I switched over and tried spider rigging for the first time. Caught two nice shell crackers and a small channel cat, but no crappie. I will say it was to windy and way to much boat traffic this morning and today to really say spider rigging didn’t work.
Can anybody give me any tips on spyder rigging old hickory?
Today I used Capps and cole man half ounce rigs, and rod runner type jigs. With half ounce weight 18” above the rigs. Tried my best to troll at .3-.5 mph but almost impossible to maintain with wind and boat waves.
Went to areas on my navonics map today that said submerged timber but saw very very little structure on my side and down scan.
Any tips of spider rigging or trolling cranks would be much appreciated on old hickory. I like to troll so not real interested in vertical jigging.
Thanks in advance!
