I am or have been rebuilding a South Bend 40's model #3 weight fly rod. I am close to being finished and ready to catch some BG's & chink's with it. The rod is very nice and sound and ready, after a few more touch's here and there. When I first received the rod, in rough shape, but usable, I lined it with 5weight line, all I had, and gave it a try. It was perfect and I decided to rebuild it. Here Is a pic I will do another when I'm finished-

It's a winter time job for sure, A lot of fun but a lot of time involved. I have caught over 200 bream on the one pictured and it is fine. I have another to do this hot summer and winter. I fish year round but some days, you just have to stay home.

I buy most of my parts from E-bay.
I have a friend, Michael Sinclair who literally wrote the book (several actually) about rebuilding bamboo fly-rods. One of his books has gone out of print and now goes for big bucks on the used market. He is very open to giving advice and help if needed.
