Trailer oil bath hubs
Having an issue with one side leaking just a little. Going to service both sides. Called ranger boats wanting to get couple new o-rings. Ranger boats want sell just the o-ring which should not cost much. They said they would sell me a rebuild kit for 238 dollars. Does anyone know where I could buy these o-rings. I would go back to regular grease before I would order a rebuild kit especially trying to do both sides.

Should be able to match it up pretty easy. A little online searching may give you the specs on the ring as well

I was told you could take high temp permatex and coat same area o-ring goes and after you press back in hub add a layer on hub and smooth out would do the same thing as o-ring. I also learned ranger no longer makes the style I have on my trailer (No thanks from them) and would have to go to the new style with hub plus bearings and all. 238 dollars per wheel.

Maybe you can find something here.
Just a moment...

Looks like a good place to start looking for seals. Didn't realize e-trailer carried parts for ranger. I hope to be able to stay with oil bath as first time I have had an issue in fifteen years.

Take one to a local auto parts store and see if they can match it up.

If etrailer does not work out I would try to find a hydraulic shop. I believe they could probably match up one or get you the right size.

Back in 1973 i took delivery of a new Holiday Rambler travel trailer which had the oil bath system for the wheel bearings.
There was a clear plastic cap set on a cork gasket, and held on with a bunch of small bolts.
As i recall the axels were made by Dexter, that system wasent uncommon on large trucks as well.
I would doubt that Ranger makes the axels for their trailers, or for that matter the trailer either.

Thanks for all the post. Going to take hubs down to try and find exactly where oil is escaping from. I have packed many in grease over the years but never fooled with oil bath hubs.
