If you're talking spinning or baitcasting, I can't help. But I've fished the Professional fly rod before and was very pleasantly surprised. It was one of the best fishing fly rods I've ever owned, and reasonably priced compared to other brands of equal performance. They have a great customer service reputation as well. With disigning people like Lefty Kreh onboard, you can't go wrong. I would say they compare to St. Croix, for less $$$.
Ditto to what LJ said. I own two of their fly rods and one UL spinning rod. I was planning on buying another spinning rod, but I went for a St. Croix instead.
FWIW, Gary Loomis has a hand in designing their spinning and casting rods.
Never heard anything bad about TFO stuff. High quality components in an affordable rod. Met a custom rod builder this week that uses 8 to 9 foot fly rod blanks to make some awesome crappie rods.
I have a 7 ft. light spinning and like it a lot. Will cast a 1/32 oz jig far enough and lift a 12" crappie in the boat without fear of breaking the rod. I also have a medium and medium light spinning 7'6" that are good for casting light lures and 1/16 oz jigs. I've never tried a ultralite.
