Always had good luck with the joker in Texas .
Didn't try the Joker tail, but the feather jig did well catching crappie, bass and sunfish.

Anyone know what kind of fish that is with the bright orange fringe on its lower fins? Maybe some kind of sunfish?

Another favorite is the spectacular redbreast sunfish.
When I pour sticks, they are a tint of color - in this case a light chartreuse with chartreuse and black flakes mixed in to the hot plastic. It's one of my favorite colors (for whatever reason...) But this year clear plastic is doing as well along with pearl and off white in that design and others.Quote:

I am really surprised that the Bluegill or hitting something like that .
Right size, shape and action = strikes. Surprised me too the first time a bluegill hit it followed by over a dozen. Fact is, fish (any species) strike that design most of the time where I find fish. Color may be a factor that enhances shape and action.Quote:

But one thing of major importance: the waters where particular lures are used determines what fish bite on average. In one water I fish, it holds aggressive fish that bite midday in shallow water but in another not so much. The bigger the average fish the larger the lure used, but small fish can strike larger lures thought to be too large. Aggression level overrides everything.
