Watch out for that motor. The FICHTs of that era are what drove OMC to bankruptcy. I believe there was an update to make them dependable, but they were prone to blowing powerheads. If it has had the update done, maybe it's okay, but I'd have a dealer look at it.
.D I, go to this site and sign in and ask your question.
Or maybe just use there search and come up with the answer.
I joined and have learned a ton.
hey mike i cant get to the site what is the web address?
D.I......I can't see Mikes link on my computer, have you tried www.iboats.com ? You may find what you're looking for there.
D.I.- I think the site Mike was referring to was:http://www.themarinedoctor.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl
Thanks I registered at the marinedoc, looks like a good site for repair and motors.
I would take it to a good mechanic and have them check it out. A couple of hundred isn't much when paying thousands of dollars for a boat.
Thanks a lot guys, i called evinrude directly and they told me everything about the motor, it had the update done. The number to Evinrude tech is 847-689-7090 ext 3
Just wanted to reach 400 post :)
