Me personally i would go with the ten or twelve foot pole. Thats just to keep the boat farther away. The sam heatons are great rods. Normally i use an ultra light spinning reel, just so if you set the hook in something big you can play in out!!!! Line choice is very open! The braided stuff is sensitive but extreamly limp (wind knots), normally 4 to 6 lb test. I like the stren hi-vis
I have a 12 ft. Sam Heaton and I really like it.
How many eyelets does the 10' pole have? I read that there are only 3? Seems that length it needs more. Are they small eyelets?
11' Sam Heaton. Can't beat them, in my opinion
I also have a 10' Sam Heaton super sensitive. I use a ultralite ice fishing real.
The reel is very flexable for crappie fishing with jigs or minnows.
Its also an exceptional buy.

SAM HEATON IS A GREAT POLE FROM B'n'M. IF YOU WANT A REAR SEAT TRY BUCK'S ULTRA LIGHT REAR SEAT. GREAT POLE AND ONLY WEIGHS ABOUT 4OZ.
how many are made here in the u.s.? blanks too?
Verticle jigging I like the G-Loomis zander rod (STR 1082S). Little pricy but can feel a fish pass gas in 30 feet of water. It's 9' long and really light. Having said this I also fish Heaton rods if sensitivity is not an issue. You know, like when are slammimg the bait.
