I know this is a crappie forum, but....... I am heading out there in a few weeks to do a little crappie and white bass fishing. Thought I might set a few lines over night for some catfish.
What is the rules in IL for that? number of hooks per line etc......

50 hooks a person. and name and address must b on em. white bass should b on fire n a coupl weeks. im plannin on goin down and runnin sum lines myself here n 2 weeks. cant wait. good luck to ya
How deep do you set your lines. Was thinking of going back in some arms and dropping lines around some of the trees.
well the lakes flooded so finding structure shouldnt b a problem. iv had my best luck n 4 foot of water or less. round willow patches n standing timber. the quality is usually very good. avg fish should b around 5 lbs. n up to 15. n if u get the right spot you can catch a bunch of em. i like to use short lines cuz of fishing in cover. usually only 6-8 hook lines. n set out 7 or 8 of em. i make my own. cheap n easy. the anticipation makes it hard to sleep at nite tho. i love it

I used to catch some huge flatheads at Shelbyville years ago. They are fairly easy to catch if you have some skills. Sorry, I can't give much more info.
Be careful setting lines last time I did I came back at 0600 and they had been cut tangled and retied around a standing tree. There was a ski boat sitting where i had it. I wont set any more at the ville too much time invested to have someone destroy it.
