I must be fishing in a nursery :)
Left home a little after nine this morning trying to beat the heat .
Plan was to fish the Town Pond, but when I arrived the shaded side was lined up with illegal bucket fisherman. I say illegal because, the pond is catch and release only now and they weren’t using their five gallon buckets for seats .
So , I left and drove to lake McIntosh.
I took one rod combo , a 6’3” Abu Garcia Mass Beat III paired with a Shimano Miravel c2000s and 2# Floroclear.
I started off fishing a 1/32 Trout Magnet with a Sowbug TM body . After a few fish the bite quit so I switched to a black Bobby Garland Itty bit Swim’r . I’m not crazy about the way the BG fits the TM jighead , but the fish don’t seem to mine and I was getting pretty good distance out of it . Most of my catches were small crappies .
I moved to a location about 80-100’ to my right and started catching small crappie there also. It was a little shaded there , but within the next few minutes the shade was gone and I headed to the shallow cove that is tree lined .
I caught my biggest bluegill of the day . Not a big one , but a little more fight than the crappies .
I tried spinners for about thirty minutes without any takers and switched back to a BG Swim’r in blue ice . Nothing until I used my Zoom chartreuse marker to color it chartreuse, and I caught three more crappies .
I ended up with 17 crappies and 3 bluegills .
The temperature was low to upper 80’s , but wasn’t bad with a little breeze and shade at the end . Beats sitting at home watching tv .
