I've been living in Dallas, Texas, but grew up fishing in the midwest, where panfish really had names like bluegill, sunfish, perch, warmouth...not just "brim" (yes i know its bream) or "perch". And we'd fish for panfish, walleye, northerns, trout, muskies...and occasionally bass.
Then I lived in California and the East Coast, with all their cool blue water action and multi-species fishing.
Then came Texas...and all anyone wanted to do was chase black bass. After spending tens of thousands of dollars in boats, gear, and guides...I finally threw in the towel.
I bought a center console boat that i take to the coast for redfish, specs, drum...and fish the local lakes for crappie, catfish, stripers, hybrids...whatever's biting. I dropped some pvc structures under my boat dock and love sitting in a folding chair, in the shade and dropping down a minnor or 2.
I am having the time of my life again....without black bass!
And I thank this website and Crappie World magazine for being a key part in my recovery...and special thanks to all of you who post such valuable and entertaining information.
...glad to be back and enjoying fishing again...and BIG THANKS to you all.
