Will the state park launch be usable during the drawdown on D'Arbonne this fall?
My best guess would be no. Should be able to use both ramps near Hwy 33 bridge. Maybe Stowe Creek depending on how much they draw it down because there is a killer drop off at the end of the ramp. Can lose and axle there. Hwy 2 ramp should be useable.
When we were up to D'Arbonne for the gathering, I spoke to one of the ranger about the drawdown. I told him the word was out that they would draw it down 8 foot, but he told me that as far as he knew they were only dropping it 4 feet. Who knows?

When will the draw down begin & when will it end? I want to rent a cabin in the spring so I can Crappie fish. When do the crappie begin to migrate up the creeks? I found the answer to onf my questions.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is planning to open the water control structure on D’Arbonne Lake near Farmerville soon after Labor Day to draw down the lake. It will be lowered to five feet below pool stage and remain lowered until December 15th. The drawdown, which is being done in coordination with the Bayou D’Arbonne Lake Watershed District will allow for shoreline maintenance and assist with the control of nuisance aquatic vegetation. LDWF says the lake won’t be closed to fishing during the drawdown, but anglers are being urged to be careful because boat lanes won’t provide normal clearance for underwater obstructions.

"NO" on using state park ramp....agree with luvtofish on other ramps. Almost positive it will be the usual four foot drawdown. The main areas of concern when running is in areas that are marked with red & green boat lane markers but do not fall within the creek channel. Many areas were laid out across flats that are only 4-6 feet deep, so they will ether be high and dry or not deep enough to be navigable....if you aren't familiar with the Bone you can't be TOO CAREFUL !
Thanks, everyone, for all of the information.
Lake Commission told me it will be a standard drawdown which is 4-5'. The drawdown is once each four years; same year as presidential election. It normally starts the week after Labor Day and barring unusual weather conditions it will remain down until there is a good freeze which or about the first of the year. During the drawdown I've used the ramps at Hwy 2, Jakes and the Farmerville side of the spillway; there may be others useable also. Also during this time there are places where the boat run doesn't follow the channel that you can get in trouble. There is a place in front of my house where the boat run is too shallow to idle through along the edges. A map card is always useful but especially during this type of circumstance.
Some reports say the locks will be closed on Dec 15. Other reports say until we get a hard freeze. Have the locks been closed?
When do the crappie normally begin to move up the creeks in the late winter/early spring? I would like to rent a cabin at the park during this time,
