Alcedo Micron on the Job
Been giving my Alcedo Micron and matching rod a workout the last few nights. Managed to snag a few fat gills near the bank just after an afternoon thunderstorm rolled through. Some dinks were around too and a bass just to keep me on my toes.

The Continental Arms Corporation of NYC started importing the Micron in 1953. It was probably the first true ultralight spinning reel available to most USA fisherman. Continental also sold rods in sizes from 4.5 to at least 5.5 feet. I'm still trying to get more info on these. The reel was made in Italy.

Whoever had one of these setups in the mid-1950s was living large!

Have you read Piscatorial Absurdities by Joe Robinson? He has a chapter on vintage reels like the Alcedo.

No. I'll have to track this down. Thanks for the knowledge!

I’m not sure if it’s still in print, but it’s a quick, fun read if you love UL fishing.

looks like a real jewel , cant remember back that far real well sometimes , but it looks like a very nice reel .

Real nice photos, and what a beautiful bend in the rod! Nice to see the older stuff in action still doing the job!

Yea, not too many lifetime ( or multiple lifetimes) guarantees these days.
